About Mrs. Wolbach:
Greetings! My name is Alissa Wolbach and I teach 7th Grade Social Studies, 7th grade religion and 6th/7th grade STEAM at St. Mark's Catholic School. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and my teaching philosophy.
I was born and raised in Washington State. My husband and I have five children and currently live in the foothills of beautiful Boise, Idaho. With such a large family, you can imagine the activity in our home! It is chaos, but it is our chaos. Our kids keep us running to school, Scouts, cheer, sports, friends and other various activities.
I attended Catholic schools through High School and all of my children attend Catholic Schools. I graduated from Washington State University in 2002 with a degree in Biology. Go Cougs! Pullman, Washington was where I met my husband, and where our first two children were born. After receiving my degree, I opened a business. Prior to our fifth child being born, we closed the businesses and stayed at home and raised our children full time. A couple of years ago, I decided that I would further my academic career and receive my Master of Education from Northwest Nazarene University. I previously taught science at Kuna High School.
Teaching is a natural fit with my personality. After being in the trenches raising five children, I have begun to appreciate how different each of my children learn. I have explored differentiated learning styles, and have worked to have them implemented in my children's classroom. This passion to help fulfill other children's needs drove me to my decision to become a teacher. I chose the secondary level because I appreciate the life stages these students are in. Children are testing their independence and the world is at their fingertips. I am excited to teach in the classroom. My philosophy is educating the whole child. I am armed with great strategy and techniques to engage my students to develop their content knowledge, leadership skills and independence!
